It comfortably holds daily essentials such as a long wallet, phone, sunglasses case, a small water bottle, cosmetics pouch and a paperback or tablet. Due to the bucket shape and unlined raffia construction, we do not recommend carrying a full-size 13-inch laptop. Please refer to the Measurements above to confirm against your own items.
Q: Can I wear it crossbody as well as on the shoulder? A: Yes. The bag has a single adjustable strap (around 55 cm drop) that can be lengthened for crossbody wear or shortened for the shoulder. Adjust to suit your height and preferred carry.
Q: How secure is the opening? A: The Balloon features a drawstring closure that cinches the inner sac within the structured base. When fully tightened it is quite secure; you may need both hands to loosen it. For quick access, many users keep it slightly open and re-cinch when needed.
Q: Is the interior lined or does it have pockets? A: This specific piece has an unlined interior without additional pockets. We recommend using small pouches to organise smaller items and protect the raffia.
Q: Is it heavy to carry? A: No. The raffia-and-calfskin construction is lightweight for its size, and the wide base distributes weight comfortably when worn on the shoulder or crossbody.
Q: How should I care for the raffia and leather trim? A: Keep the bag away from prolonged sunlight, heat, oils and cosmetics. Avoid overloading. For the raffia, dust with a soft brush and spot clean by gently dabbing with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap if needed; allow to air-dry naturally. Condition the leather trim sparingly with a suitable leather care product and avoid getting it wet. Store stuffed with acid-free tissue in a breathable dust bag, strap relaxed, in a cool, dry place.
Q: What if the bag gets wet in the rain? A: Blot moisture immediately with a clean, dry cloth, reshape the bag and let it air-dry at room temperature away from direct heat or sunlight. Stuff lightly with paper to help the bag keep its form. Do not use a hairdryer or radiator.
