A: Mouton is sheepskin that has been sheared and specially treated to create a dense, velvety, water‑repellent fleece, often resembling beaver or seal. Shearling means the sheepskin is tanned with the wool left on. This piece features brown mouton shearling with a cosy cream shearling lining, giving a soft, plush finish with natural warmth and texture.

Q: Is this bag vintage, and when was it produced?
A: Yes. The serial number 6163414 places it in Chanel’s 6‑series, which dates to approximately 2000–2002. This aligns with widely used Chanel date‑code charts and examples from the same series. As always, a serial number supports dating but is only one part of a full authentication.

Q: What typically fits inside?
A: With approximate measurements of 23 × 15 × 6.5 cm, it is a compact shoulder bag that fits daily essentials such as a smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick, and sunglasses in a soft pouch. It is not intended for water bottles, tablets, or bulky items. Capacity depends on how you pack—please refer to the Measurements for exact sizing.

Q: How does the strap wear on the body?
A: The single flat shoulder strap measures around 50 cm end‑to‑end, designed for comfortable shoulder carry. Most users will find it sits near the mid‑torso to hip depending on height. It is not designed for cross‑body wear.

A: Shearling has some natural resistance to light moisture but it is not waterproof. Avoid heavy rain or snow.
