Q: What is the size and how does it wear on the wrist?
A: The case measures 29 mm across and, being square, tends to wear a little larger than a round 29 mm watch. Many midsize Santos Galbée examples are around 41 mm lug-to-lug, so this suits smaller to medium wrists and is considered unisex. Please refer to the Measurements on this page and compare with a watch you already own for the best sense of fit.

Q: How do I set the moonphase and date safely?
A: First, avoid adjusting the date between about 9 pm and 3 am, as the calendar mechanism is engaged. A simple method is: 1) set the time to around 5 o’clock to be clear of the danger window; 2) set the date correctly; 3) set the moonphase by aligning it to the last full moon, then advance the moon by the number of days since. Finally, set the correct time and press the crown back in. If unsure, a Cartier-authorised watchmaker can do this in minutes.

Q: How accurate is the moonphase display over time?
A: Most traditional moonphase mechanisms approximate the lunar cycle using a 59‑tooth wheel, which leads to a drift of about one day roughly every 2.5–2.7 years. An occasional correction keeps it perfectly in sync.

Q: What movement does this watch use and what upkeep is typical?
A: It uses a Cartier quartz movement with date and moonphase, chosen for reliability and low maintenance. Typical battery life is around 2–3 years. As a rule of thumb, have the watch checked by an authorised service centre about every six years, or sooner if you notice condensation, irregular timekeeping, or if the watch has sustained an impact.

Q: Is the watch water resistant and can I get it wet?
A: Many 29 mm Santos Galbée models were rated to 30 metres when new, which covers everyday splashes but not swimming or showering. As this is a vintage watch, seals can age; we recommend avoiding immersion and having water resistance tested after any battery change or case opening.

Q: Can the bracelet be resized and will it fit my wrist?
A: Yes. The Santos bracelet is sized by adding or removing links with small screws at the link ends; the screws visible on the top of each link are a design motif. This piece is currently configured for a wrist of approximately 18 cm based on the listed bracelet perimeter.
